What to Expect on Your First Visit

Your first visit at our office will likely be the most thorough exam you have had in many years. There will not be a sense of being rushed. You will have as much time with the doctor as you wish.

Dr. Wassermann begins with an extensive history of your chief complaint, taking into account all past and present injuries and activities. He will then investigate your general health including all body systems. He will discuss your past injuries, illnesses, surgeries, medications, diet, exercise and family history.

After your entire health history has been discussed Dr. Wassermann will begin your physical exam. He will start with a complete neurological examination. He will then assess the ranges of motion in your joints and evaluate your posture. The doctor will then take a visual and palpatory assessment of your spine and area of chief complaint. The physical exam finishes with an orthopedic evaluation of your injury.

When your physical exam is complete Dr. Wassermann will determine if x-rays and/or other diagnostic testing are necessary. If you require x-rays, Dr. Wassermann will take them in his office. MRI, CT, ultrasound, nuclear bone scans, bone density testing and other diagnostic tests may be ordered by Dr. Wassermann and would be scheduled at an outside facility.

Once your entire exam is complete, Dr. Wassermann will review his findings and any x-ray films with you. You will have a chance to discuss your diagnosis and treatment plan with the doctor at length. In some cases where further testing is required, Dr. Wassermann would give his report of findings at a later visit.

After your report of findings has been discussed and you have consented to the treatment plan, you will be given your first treatment.
